Sarina Catchment Schools Program 2009 (2008 - 2009)

Project outline:

The aim of the program is to provide all primary schools within the Sarina Catchment an opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the loval environment and its condition. The program will be designed to cover four broad and contrasting natural resource management related topics including: water quality, flora, fauna, and the effects of urbanisation.

The programs' objective is to create a hands-on educational program, that provides awareness to students on the environmental health of the Sarina catchment and the direct relationship each person has in maintaining the environmental health of the catchment.

Project achievements and outcomes:

Development of activity booklet for students (and teachers)
Involvement of stakeholders to deliver activities: MRC: waste & water recycling, GBRMPA: Catchment Role Play
330 students from 4 local primary schools attended
